Platform Engineer

We are on the lookout for a Platform Engineer with skills in Linux, Java, Azure DevOps, and Ansible for our client in Amsterdam!

Your Role

As part of our multidisciplinary GRDM Business DevOps squad, you will take on end-to-end responsibility for our client's Global Reference Data Management (GRDM) solution. You will be involved throughout the entire development lifecycle, from refining user stories to monitoring software in production.

The goal of the GRDM platform is to ensure consistent adoption of reference data across ING by establishing and maintaining a trusted source for reference data. This is a crucial component in various business processes, ranging from data management to payment flows, and is responsible for storing and distributing both bank-wide and local reference data. The platform also offers a web-based solution for managing and accessing information, alongside file-based distributions and API-based retrieval of reference data.

As a Platform Engineer, we expect you to:

• Have experience in a corporate and/or financial agile environment (DevOps, Scrum)

• Be eager to learn and adapt to evolving technologies

• Continuously seek ways to enhance the Platform and Process

• Challenge the status quo and propose improvements for higher quality, usability, and maintainability

• Design reusable automations and tools that can benefit multiple projects

• Possess a passion for problem-solving including troubleshooting, incident resolution, and implementing solutions

• Work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently

• Be a team player and help the team achieve their overall goals

• Participate in our standby/on-call schedule for support outside office hours

• Communicate effectively in English, explaining technical topics to non-technical stakeholders

• Perform operational tasks including deployments, automations, lifecycle management, support, risk management, coding, testing, runbooks, change and incident management, observability, and capacity planning—engaging with multiple teams and managing dependencies.

Working conditions: This job role offers a balanced split between operational (run) and project (build) work, with a distribution of 75% operational and 25% project-related tasks. To minimize the impact on business operations, some changes may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.
