We are looking for an experienced software engineer to join our team at Rabobank. This role entails working in a busy environment focused on creating and maintaining applications and solutions for communications data ingestion and managing decommissioned environments into a searchable centralized space for regulatory purposes.

The ideal candidate should be proactive and capable of driving initiatives to successful conclusions within agreed timelines. They should know when to escalate issues and communicate effectively with technical colleagues, management, and stakeholders. A solid focus on security and ownership of deliverables is essential.

Detailed Description

Within the bank, various solutions are implemented to support the archiving of business data from decommissioned applications, along with the archiving of regulatory information, ensuring it remains searchable. This new role will analyze requirements and build a standard data ingestion and search interface to simplify the onboarding of future applications, ultimately aiming to provide a semi-automated onboarding service.

The role requires an understanding of how structured and non-structured data can be collected and combined to answer business questions, as well as the ability to code Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and manage the underlying object store where the data is ultimately stored. This position is a hybrid of a data scientist, application developer, and infrastructure engineer.

Data is stored in a Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) Object Store.

  • The candidate will work within the Storage Services team as part of Engineering & Enterprise Tech.

  • The purpose of the role is to identify generic and bespoke archiving and data analysis requirements for the bank's data, building standardized extraction, transformation, and loading processes into existing Object Stores to satisfy analysis and regulatory needs.

  • Develop standardized ingestion pipelines that deliver scalable, repeatable, and secure solutions meeting multiple data archiving requirements. This includes organizing and storing legacy data from retired applications, as well as building APIs for real-time data collection and archiving to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Code, test, document, and maintain standardized, automated data pipelines that form the basis of an Archive Service.

  • Assist in building and managing the infrastructure needed for optimal data extraction, transformation, and loading from various data sources.

  • Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide key business performance metrics.

  • Develop reporting services across Storage services using PowerBI and associated tools.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including business, Product, Data, and Design teams, to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.

  • Anticipate and innovate to further develop the bank's archiving solutions.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Build ETL architecture to transfer structured and non-structured data into a Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) Object store for archiving.

  • Create bespoke archives of data to meet specific business solutions such as regulatory compliance.

  • Develop a generic framework for ingesting decommissioned application data into searchable archives, enabling applications to present their data in a predetermined format.

  • Deliver a standard interface for securely searching these archives.

  • Anticipate demand and innovate existing solutions.

  • Code, test, document, and maintain standardized, automated data pipelines.

  • Help design and build infrastructure for optimal data extraction, transformation, and loading from various sources.

  • Build analytics tools leveraging the data pipeline for actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and key business performance metrics.

  • Ensure thorough testing, documentation, and handover to the customer.

  • Deliver results within aggressive timelines.

  • Communicate progress and risks to the team.

  • Technical Support teams retiring applications.

  • Technical teams responsible for global Backup and Retention.

  • Technical team overseeing the global Archiving environment.

  • Technical teams managing File server and SharePoint environments globally.

Requirements

Candidate Requirements

The candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of experience with:

  • Powershell

  • .Net

  • React js

  • Ansible

  • SQL

Business Knowledge/Technical Skills

Candidates should possess the following skills and experiences:

  • Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ pipelines, architectures, and datasets.

  • Strong analytical skills related to working with both structured and unstructured datasets.

  • Ability to build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.

  • A successful history of manipulating, combining, processing, and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.

  • Working knowledge and experience with MSSQL and Oracle databases.

  • Experience supporting and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

  • We are looking for a candidate with experience or a strong aptitude in a Data Engineering role, ideally having experience using the following software/tools:

    • In-depth experience in developing PowerShell scripts.

    • Experience with development languages: .Net, Ansible, React js, and SQL.
