KPN invites a dedicated and skilled Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this essential role, you'll be at the heart of our Logfile Management initiatives, harnessing the power of the KPN Data Services Hub. We are looking for someone who is passionate about security, with a keen focus on Security Information and Event Management (SIEM). This position supports a product that operates on a 24/7 basis, ensuring maximum reliability and performance for our users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Innovate and maintain scalable, high-performance solutions in languages like Rust and Scala, capable of efficiently processing large data volumes.
  • Exhibit total ownership of your creations, managing their lifecycle from initial design to ongoing operational support.
  • Craft and optimize operational processes, using your deep knowledge of DevOps practices to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
  • Engage with streaming technologies such as Kafka, integrating principles like Data Mesh to enhance data architecture.
  • Collaborate and share knowledge within the team, supporting both internal and external stakeholders with a spirit of cooperation and mutual growth.
  • Lead and mentor, fostering a culture of learning and development among colleagues and customers, encouraging diversity of thought and approach.

Location: Amsterdam

Number of Hours per Week: 40 hours, hybrid

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Profound expertise in Rust and Scala with a focus on building resilient, scalable solutions.
  • Experience in handling high-volume data processing with precision.
  • Strong understanding of streaming technologies, especially Kafka, and familiarity with data architecture concepts like Data Mesh.
  • Proven experience in developing and refining operational processes within a DevOps framework.
  • Exceptional teamwork and mentoring skills, embracing diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
  • Fluent in English and Dutch.
  • A proactive, goal-oriented mindset, eager for continuous learning and personal growth.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, especially in secure, scalable deployments.
  • Familiarity with networking principles (e.g., subnets, routing, DNS, VPN) and firewall in enterprise environments.
  • Exposure to observability platforms, particularly the Grafana stack (Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir) and related monitoring solutions.
