Hey there! Rabobank in Utrecht is on the lookout for a talented AI Engineer to join their GenAI Assistants team within Customer Service. We're super excited about how customer interactions are evolving, especially with AI agents stepping in to help with personalized financial decisions.

The key here is making sure these agents have access to top-notch, reliable enterprise data and knowledge. That's where you come in! We need someone who can help prepare this crucial information and rigorously test our AI assistants to ensure they're providing accurate, grounded, and dependable support to our advisors.

You'll be a vital part of our Conversational AI teams, focusing on getting enterprise data and knowledge ready for these advanced AI assistants. Plus, you'll be diving into evaluation frameworks for all sorts of scenarios – from quick, single questions to more involved, multi-turn conversations and even agent-like interactions.

We’re all about a hybrid work style, aiming for about one day a week onsite in Utrecht to really connect with the teams and bring new AI concepts to life. Mondays are our in-office days, and for the rest of the week, we’re flexible, coordinating amongst ourselves whether it's a home or office day. Our Digital & Customer Interaction Tribe is all about delivering an amazing customer experience, no matter how they reach out to us. And guess what? Here's a peek at what you'll be getting up to:

• Jumping into a scrum team to get enterprise data prepped, organized, improved, and checked for our AI knowledge bases and chatbots.
• Building and keeping an eye on data pipelines in Databricks to process all sorts of data for our AI knowledge bases.
• Putting evaluation frameworks to the test on our advanced chatbots, looking at single-turn, multi-turn, simulated, and agentic setups.
• Getting data ready – cleaning, tweaking, and enhancing it – to make sure our AI assistants are working with the best info possible.
• Creating and maintaining datasets for evaluations that reflect real conversations, tricky situations, odd cases, and multi-step processes.
• Setting up automated testing, monitoring, and quality checks for any changes to data, prompts, models, retrieval, or orchestration.
• Deploying and managing cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, specifically Azure Bicep, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Digging into evaluation results and figuring out how to make our knowledge, retrieval, prompts, tools, and application logic even better.

Assignment Details:

• Duration: ASAP – August 31, 2027, with potential for extension
• Location: Utrecht
• Commitment: 1 FTE (Full-Time Equivalent)
• Hiring: We'll wrap up the search once we find the right fit, so don't wait too long!

What you'll bring to the table:

• You've got a knack for engineering and ensuring data is top-notch, plus you're a big fan of Agile development.
• You're the kind of person who jumps right in to tackle tricky AI quality and cloud engineering puzzles.
• You're a critical thinker who takes real ownership and responsibility for solutions that are ready for prime time.
• You're a great communicator with a genuine focus on our customers.
• You hold a relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree and are fluent in English.

Your technical toolkit:

• You're super comfortable with Python and have solid experience in data engineering and setting up automated tests.
• You've got practical experience with Azure, Databricks, DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code – Bicep would be a big plus!
• You've built data pipelines before and know how to get structured and unstructured enterprise data ready for AI knowledge bases and RAG applications.
• You've got experience in evaluating advanced chatbots, including those that handle multiple turns, simulated scenarios, and agentic interactions.
• You're familiar with the ins and outs of Context Engineering, Agentic AI, Function Calling, retrieval strategies, and tool use.

Working conditions: This job role offers a balanced split between operational (run) and project (build) work, with a distribution of 75% operational and 25% project-related tasks. To minimize the impact on business operations, some changes may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.
