We're on the lookout for an Application Engineer to join our client's team in Amsterdam! This role focuses on QA & Performance testing, with a strong emphasis on Windows and Selenium.

You'll be diving into an Agile team (a squad) where you'll collaborate with a fantastic group of open-minded and motivated colleagues. You'll be working in two-week sprints, and the knowledge-sharing aspect is really important here. Expect to actively share your insights and learn from other agile teams within your chapter and beyond. It's all about growing together!

Here's a peek at what your day-to-day might look like:

  • Keeping our mortgage application systems running smoothly through functional and application maintenance.
  • Developing and maintaining automated regression tests for a third-party mortgage platform. You'll be using Java, BDD, and Selenium for this.
  • Testing and deploying software releases.
  • Providing support to users of our mortgage application systems.
  • Building and maintaining the Microsoft deployment pipeline in Azure DevOps.
  • Focusing on performance tuning, monitoring, and setting up alerts.

When it comes to our technology, we're working with:

  • Back-end APIs built on an internally developed Spring Boot framework.
  • Oracle and MS SQL databases.
  • Virtualized infrastructure running on both Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Some third-party software on the Windows platform.
  • Automated regression (end-to-end) test suites developed using Java, Selenium, private cloud infrastructure, and Docker.

We know that sometimes, due to regulatory requirements, release processes can feel a bit formal. But we're looking for someone who can quickly get to grips with these processes and has a real drive to continuously improve and automate them wherever possible. Your proactive approach will be key!

ZZP Allowed: No

Application Deadline: 1 September 2026

Functie eisen

We're looking for someone with an open personality who's totally comfortable with giving and getting direct feedback. You've got a keen eye for quality and aren't afraid to gently challenge your colleagues when needed, like during peer reviews. You like to understand the 'why' behind things and will speak up to question decisions, rather than just going along with them. A customer-first mindset is really important to us.

You're passionate about software development, always curious about the latest trends and technologies, and eager to bring that knowledge into our organization. A proactive attitude is definitely a plus! You've also got great communication and stakeholder management skills.

We understand that work-life balance is key, so we don't have a strict 9-to-5 culture. Production deployments happen every two weeks on Thursday evenings, and we'd expect you to be involved roughly once every six weeks. There's a 24/7 standby rotation, and you'll be on call for one week about every ten weeks. Of course, compensation is provided for this.

You'll be actively keeping in touch with stakeholders throughout the mortgage (test) chain and system integrations. Plus, you'll be reviewing and improving our documentation.

Our office is located in the Amsterdam area, and we'd love for you to be in the office two days a week.

Your Skills:

  • You have solid experience in testing, with functional knowledge of financial applications and mortgage products.
  • Experience implementing financial software packages is a big plus.
  • You're an expert in test automation.
  • Building virtual test environments is something you've done before.
  • You're comfortable with CI/CD tooling, specifically Azure DevOps and Docker.
  • Experience in Agile, Scrum, and Kanban environments is essential.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability, including Azure Insights and OpenTelemetry, is important.
  • You have strong verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • Our application landscape is pretty complex with lots of APIs, so experience testing APIs is a must.
  • You have strong analytical skills and can really dig deep into .NET application layers to troubleshoot issues.

Nice to Have:

  • Basic Linux/Windows operations and automation skills would be great.
  • Experience building applications within a Java framework (like Spring Boot) would be awesome.
  • Any advanced knowledge that could help us improve our CI/CD pipeline (think Azure DevOps and/or Docker) is highly valued.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including production monitoring using tools like Grafana and Kibana, would be fantastic.
  • Having experience working in a corporate environment is a bonus.
  • Experience with security monitoring would be helpful.
  • Development skills in .NET and/or Java would be a great asset.
