At Foundation4Tech, Platform Services is all about making sure our platform services – think Operating Systems, Storage Services, and all the support tools – are super stable, high quality, secure, and cost-effective. We develop, deliver, manage, and keep innovating these essential services.

As a Business Architect for Platform Services, you'll be instrumental in shaping the future of our platform services. You'll be involved in how they're designed, delivered, and how they grow. Working hand-in-hand with the Area Lead (who focuses on product and strategy) and the Tech Lead (who's all about people and delivery), you'll translate business goals, regulatory needs, and the best engineering practices into a clear and actionable architecture. Your mission? To design platform services that are modern, secure, resilient, and perfectly suited for their purpose – covering everything from operating systems to backup and recovery, and including really robust cyber recovery strategies.

This role is a fantastic fit for someone who genuinely enjoys diving into complex technical challenges and has a knack for explaining those tricky concepts in a way that everyone can understand and get on board with.

What you’ll be doing:

• Architectural Leadership: You’ll own and evolve the architecture blueprint for Platform Services, ensuring it aligns perfectly with engineering standards, the overall enterprise architecture, and regulatory requirements. You'll be guiding key decisions around Linux and Windows platforms, SAN, NAS, object storage, archiving, cyber recovery, lifecycle management, and standardization.
• Platform Resilience & Recovery: You’ll be shaping the architectures for backup, restore, and disaster recovery. You'll drive strategies for cyber resilience, including designing for recovery, isolation, and building confidence in our restore capabilities. It's all about finding that sweet spot between security, recoverability, cost, and keeping things operationally simple.
• Collaboration & Leadership: You’ll be co-leading the Platform Services area with the Area Lead and Tech Lead. You'll also functionally lead Solution Architects who are working with various squads. Your goal is to create clarity and alignment without relying on a heavy, hierarchical control structure. Fostering a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and shared ownership is key.
• Stakeholder Engagement: You'll be working with stakeholders across different regions and disciplines. Your ability to communicate the architectural vision and roadmaps in a clear and engaging way will be crucial. You'll also be a trusted partner for engineering, security, and leadership teams.

Assignment Details:

• Duration: ASAP - 31 AUG 2027, with the possibility of extension.
• Location: Utrecht.
• We're looking for 1 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE).

Here's what we're looking for in a candidate:

• Education: A Master’s Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience would be fantastic.
• Experience: We'd love to see significant experience working with complex IT environments, especially with several years focused on architecture (whether that's business, enterprise, or platform).
• Operating Systems: Solid, hands-on knowledge and architectural understanding of both Linux and Windows platforms is key.
• Storage & Data Protection: A deep grasp of storage, backup & restore, and disaster recovery concepts is essential.
• Security & Resilience Mindset: We're looking for experience with cyber recovery strategies, data protection, and platform security.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: A strong understanding of on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments, and how applications interact with both cloud and infrastructure, is important.
• Communication: The ability to clearly explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical folks is a must.
• Way of Working: We value curiosity, technical depth, collaboration, and a focus on team success over individual recognition.
• Language: Fluency in English is required, and Dutch would be a great bonus!

Working conditions: This job role offers a balanced split between operational (run) and project (build) work, with a distribution of 75% operational and 25% project-related tasks. To minimize the impact on business operations, some changes may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.
