Data Analyst – Rabobank Utrecht

We’re currently on the hunt for a talented, experienced Data Analyst to join the team at Rabobank in Utrecht for a long-term external assignment. We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just crunch numbers—you should be a proactive consultant at heart, someone who feels right at home using Power BI to turn complex data into clear, meaningful stories.

We know that business questions aren't always crystal clear from the start. We need a professional who embraces that ambiguity and knows exactly how to bridge the gap between a vague idea and a concrete, actionable solution. If you’re someone who enjoys taking full ownership of a project—from the initial discovery phase all the way through to the final presentation for stakeholders—we’d love to meet you.

What you’ll be doing:

• Connecting the dots: You’ll work closely with stakeholders to understand their core challenges and transform their needs into structured user stories, analytical designs, and clear acceptance criteria.
• Driving insights: You’ll dive deep into various data sources, performing SQL analysis and data exploration to uncover trends that drive decision-making.
• Building & Maintaining: You will be the go-to person for developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards, semantic models, and robust DAX measures.
• Ensuring Quality: You’ll be responsible for validating data, conducting root-cause analysis when things aren't quite right, and keeping our reporting standards high through peer reviews.
• Leading the way: You’ll manage expectations, coordinate your own delivery, and proactively identify any risks or dependencies that might pop up along the way.
• Collaborating: We’re a team that believes in sharing knowledge—you’ll support internal adoption and help keep our analytical practices sharp and reusable.

The Practical Details:

• Duration: Starting ASAP through March 31, 2027, with the potential to extend.
• Location: Utrecht (Hybrid working, with Mondays as our core office day).
• Language: Fluency in both Dutch and English is a must.
• Contracting: Please note that this position is for 1 FTE and ZZP (freelance) is not permitted for this role.

We’re looking for someone who feels right at home in the world of data and loves turning complex puzzles into clear, actionable insights. If you’re a problem-solver who enjoys working independently while staying connected with your team, you’ll fit right in here.

Your toolkit:

• Technical Mastery: You have plenty of hands-on experience under your belt with Power BI, DAX, Power Query, and SQL.
• Analytical Flair: You know how to make data tell a story through beautiful, intuitive visualizations.
• Translating Ambiguity: You have a knack for taking vague business questions and turning them into solid, analytical solutions.
• People Person: You’re a natural communicator who can build great relationships with stakeholders and keep everyone in the loop.
• Ownership & Drive: You’re proactive, structured, and love taking the lead on projects to get things across the finish line.
• Language Skills: You are comfortable working in both Dutch and English.

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience with Python and/or PySpark.
• Familiarity with the Azure analytics environment.

Working conditions: This job role offers a balanced split between operational (run) and project (build) work, with a distribution of 75% operational and 25% project-related tasks. To minimize the impact on business operations, some changes may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.
