We're looking for a dedicated DevOps Engineer to join our Storage Services team within Engineering & Enterprise Tech. You'll be playing a crucial role in supporting, designing, implementing, automating, and testing IT infrastructure components and engineering applications, with a special focus on the security aspects of our rapidly evolving ransomware protection and recovery services.

Your mission will be to build and maintain a highly autonomous environment. In the unfortunate event of a ransomware attack on the bank, this environment will be key to enabling the swift recovery of multiple affected systems. These systems will be moved into isolated 'ring-fenced' areas where they can be thoroughly analyzed, cleansed of any malware, and then quickly restored to our production environments.

You'll be responsible for safeguarding and recovering both application data and infrastructure configuration data. Cutting-edge technology, robust security measures, and extensive automation will be at the core of your daily work.

Essentially, the environment you create is Rabobank's ultimate safety net in the face of ransomware threats.

Given the critical nature of the Cleanroom environment, versatility, deep knowledge across various supporting technologies, and a naturally curious mindset are a must. You'll need to be comfortable exploring and mastering multiple technologies.

Functie Eisen

We're looking for someone with a solid grasp of a few key areas to help us out.

• It's really important you're a pro with VMware Aria Automation.
• We also need you to understand how to stay resilient against ransomware, thinking about things like recovery plans, immutable backups, and air gapping.
• Knowing your way around security hardening best practices is a must.
• Experience with Role Based Access Control (RBAC) and managing privileges is key.
• It would be great if you have a handle on common malware tactics and how attackers behave.
• Experience with vulnerability management and risk assessment would be super helpful.
• A good understanding of cryptography, handling certificates, and managing secrets is needed.
• You should be able to set up and manage network segmentation.
• Having experience with Terraform would be a big plus.
• And if you're familiar with Ansible, that's also very advantageous.

Here's what you'll be focusing on:

• You'll be driving improvements and new developments in infrastructure security, recovery, and automation.
• We need your support to optimize security and recovery for our massive compute, converged, storage, backup, and archive environments. We're talking about 21,000 VMs and almost 20 PB of data across Europe and the Americas, supporting tons of applications and millions of customers!
• Sharing your knowledge and continuously learning is a big part of this role. You'll be collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, international team, working with various services within our department.

Specifically for this role, we're putting an extra emphasis on making sure our Cleanroom systems meet all security standards. You'll also be responsible for the day-to-day support of the Cleanroom environment, which includes handling incidents, problems, and changes.

We envision you as an experienced, versatile T-shaped engineer. You'll be working with a small, expert squad to enhance an existing ransomware recovery solution. This solution is designed to act as an autonomous bootstrap environment, capable of rebuilding parts of the bank. Our goal is to create solutions that are practical, supportable, performant, and compliant. We're excited to have you help us build this!
