ING Retail Banking is on the lookout for a talented mid-senior/senior Backend Engineer to join one of its dynamic, multidisciplinary teams. You'll be instrumental in crafting complex customer propositions, focusing on developing top-notch web and mobile back-end features for an exceptional digital experience.

Within the Omnichannel Team WAHA, we're all about creating a seamless customer product overview and managing product preferences. We build our components using Java and Spring. As a Lead Backend Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping the platform's technical vision alongside the domain architect and Chapter Lead, empowering your team to embrace and implement this vision.

  • You've got over 8 years of professional Java experience, focusing on designing, developing, and maintaining highly available and resilient applications. That's a huge asset!
  • Your skills with Java 8+, Git, and Maven are exactly what we need.
  • We're excited about your experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data JPA/JDBC – core technologies for us.
  • Your knowledge of Azure and its CI/CD pipeline is super valuable, especially as we're moving towards a cloud-based solution.

  • Understanding messaging platforms like Kafka, EMS, ActiveMQ, or IBM MQ will help us build robust communication systems.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (Prometheus/Grafana) and Elasticsearch means you can help keep our systems running smoothly.
  • Your experience with containers (Docker, K8S, or OpenShift) is perfect for modern deployment strategies.
  • Basic Linux commands and bash scripting are always handy for everyday tasks.
  • You have good knowledge of relational databases, specifically Oracle.

Working conditions: This job role offers a balanced split between operational (run) and project (build) work, with a distribution of 75% operational and 25% project-related tasks. To minimize the impact on business operations, some changes may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.
