You're going to be part of a really cool, multi-disciplinary team that's building the core platform for our client. Right now, the team is super focused on creating and delivering Web Components that will be used everywhere. They've really embraced software engineering principles, prioritizing top-notch technology, getting direct feedback from users, super-fast delivery, and automating as much as possible. It's a fantastic, modern approach that opens up a lot of room for fresh ideas and the chance to launch this exciting product globally!
To give you a bit more insight, our squad is called Bifrost, and we're a key part of the Frontend Foundation Web area. Our main mission is to make it easier and better for our client to integrate and deploy their code, right from the start all the way to production. We're all about enhancing the experience for our engineers and, ultimately, for our clients too. You'll be joining a brand-new team of incredibly talented people, working together to build the next generation of our frontend delivery services. The team's goal is to create a solution that's not only high-performing and scalable but also incredibly fast, designed for global use with the latest tech stack. An immediate priority for the squad is migrating our Frontend controller to Java.

- Help build and maintain a safe and productive working environment.
- Always be looking for ways to help others succeed and shine.
- Be involved in the entire development lifecycle, from refining ideas to monitoring in production.
- Be available to support our products and help manage any incidents that come up.
- Participate in the on-call rotation, roughly every 4 to 8 weeks (24/7).
- Support and maintain our existing products and objectives.
- Create and keep product Risk documentation up-to-date.
- Help shape a realistic roadmap for your squad.
- Step up as a Security Champion for your team.

Functie eisen
In the IT Chapter, we mainly use a set of robust technologies and frameworks to build and deliver great solutions. These include: Java, Rest API, Kafka, Cassandra, Azure DevOps (covering Repos, Pipeline, Boards, and Artifacts), Maven, and Elastic Search. Everything runs on a Container Hosting Platform, specifically Openshift and Kubernetes, where we consistently roll out new features to production every two weeks.
We're looking for someone who:
- Is experienced in Java 21+ (LTS versions) and genuinely enjoys finding creative solutions.
- Has solid experience with Spring Boot/Spring latest.
- Understands the ins and outs of Microservices.
- Thrives in a challenging, distributed IT environment, especially with asynchronous communication channels – we rely heavily on Kafka!
- Is strong with Azure and Azure DevOps.
- Possesses great analytical skills and a strong conceptual/architectural understanding, with the ability to quickly grasp new technical concepts, even those outside your usual comfort zone.
- Has good knowledge of Performance, Capacity, and Availability, particularly with Elastic Search and Kibana.
- Is passionate about automation and continuous improvement.
- Has strong knowledge of Networking (dns, http) and security (TLS, PKI).
- Is experienced with both NoSQL and SQL databases.
- Has experience working in an Agile/Scrum/DevOps team.
- Is a true team player and a professional in every sense.
- Has good communication skills and is open to new ideas.
- Excels in technical communication and is eager to engage with customers.
- Enjoys helping their team grow and values the diversity of opinions and skills.
- Is comfortable stepping out of their comfort zone.
- Is a frontrunner, always willing to learn new things.
- Works with a focus on security, tidiness, and care.
Nice to have:
- Experience with performance testing, like using Gatling.
- A deep understanding of (test) automation, continuous delivery, deployment tools, and pipelines. We work with Azure Repos, Azure Pipelines, Openshift, Kubernetes, Checkmarx, and Azure Artifacts.
- The ability to share knowledge back with the ING Bank through presentations, workshops, and documentation, and importantly, to help set new tech standards.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and in an agile manner.
- A proactive approach to handling application risk controls, helping to prevent security and other risks efficiently.
