Ready to make a massive impact? Join ING’s Global Customer Data Management (GCDM) tribe as a Senior Java Engineer and help build the super-scalable, high-performance systems that drive customer experiences across retail and wholesale banking worldwide!

You'll be right at the core of our cutting-edge technology platforms, taking ownership of essential banking functionalities that power most of ING's customer offerings. Specifically, you'll dive deep into our Party and Agreement Management (PAM) system.

What's OnePAM all about? It's our global solution for Master Data Management, handling all our customer data. Operated by the GCDM tribe, OnePAM is the central customer data hub and data layer for the Banking Technology (Touchpoint) Platform. It empowers all ING business lines and entities by providing crucial data and business services for managing Master Party Data, integrated with Touchpoint technology and Global Reference Data Management. Our goal? To let consumers connect to global services and phase out local data management systems worldwide.

The Touchpoint Platform is a game-changer, critical to ING's vision of becoming one truly global bank. It's a key ingredient in our transformation from a traditional bank to a next-gen financial services platform that goes way beyond banking!

Your Role and Responsibilities:

• You'll be part of a squad focused on the entire customer journey. You'll own the stack and the journey itself! Your squad will include engineers, customer journey experts (CJE), and a product owner.
• Team up with the Product Owner, CJEs, and fellow Engineers to translate business requirements into features that deliver real value.
• Cultivate a collaborative team spirit and be eager to learn from your talented colleagues.
• Help shape our technology direction and contribute to the architecture of new components and services.
• Provide meaningful code reviews, focusing on the business impact and high-level design.

Your Tech Environment:

Java 21+, Spring Boot, Kafka, Cassandra, Azure SQL, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Hexagonal Architecture, Domain Driven Design, Cucumber, Monorepo, Maven.

Must-Haves:

• Solid experience with Java 21+ and Spring Boot.
• Proven experience with Domain Driven Design & Hexagonal Architecture.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience mentoring your colleagues.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure and DevOps (think Azure, pipelines, certificates).
• Familiarity with Kafka & Cassandra.
• Experience with observability tools like Prometheus/Grafana/ELK.

Stand-by Shifts:

Our business-critical systems need to be available 24/7. This means we have a stand-by system for unforeseen circumstances like calamities or incidents. For your availability during these times, you'll receive a stand-by compensation.

For this role, you'll participate in stand-by shifts and be available for incidents outside regular working hours, and yes, you'll be compensated for it. Expect stand-by shifts about 3-4 weeks per year, with fair compensation and clear escalation procedures to support you.

We're looking for a seasoned Senior Java Engineer with around 8-15 years of solid experience to join our dynamic team. If you're passionate about crafting robust backend solutions and thrive in a collaborative environment, this is the role for you!

• Deep Java Expertise: You should have extensive experience with Java 21+ and Spring Boot, coupled with a strong understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and modern backend architectures.
• Production Savvy: We need someone who's comfortable with monitoring, ensuring reliability, setting up CI/CD pipelines, and generally rocking production operations.
• Team Player: Get ready to collaborate! You'll be working closely with Product Owners, CJEs, and fellow engineers, always keeping stakeholders at the forefront.
• Mentorship Skills: Sharing your knowledge is key. We're looking for someone who can effectively coach and mentor within our engineering teams, helping everyone grow.
• Ownership Mentality: Bring your A-game when it comes to ownership. You'll be accountable for services, processes, and delivering exceptional end-to-end results.

Working conditions: This job role offers a balanced split between operational (run) and project (build) work, with a distribution of 75% operational and 25% project-related tasks. To minimize the impact on business operations, some changes may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.
