Senior Insights Data Scientist Transaction Monitoring

As a Senior Insights Data Scientist in Transaction Monitoring, you provide data insights and build automated pipelines/workflows about the Rabobank transactions of over 8 million customers. This enables your colleagues to make data-driven decisions in catching criminals.

Preventing Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing is a key aspect of our society and our organization. As a bank, we play a major role in this field. To be effective in fighting financial crime, we need smart individuals like you who thrive on analyzing data, patterns, and customer behavior to uncover illegal activities. Together with the team, you will be responsible for providing data insights about our current Transaction Monitoring (TM) system to enable further optimization.

As you can imagine, this job requires a mix of technical and analytical skills, as well as visualization and communication expertise. When done successfully, our operational analysts can focus on the true positive alerts, spending their time on genuinely value-adding activities. In summary, in this role, you will be on the front line of fighting financial crime.

Top 3 Responsibilities

• Create and improve pipelines for tuning, lookbacks, and impact analyses. These pipelines need to smartly and efficiently integrate different complex TM model components.
• Perform analyses from start to finish: doing the intake, writing your code, visualizing the insights, and presenting them back to the stakeholders.
• Design and develop dashboards from front-end to back-end in production, enabling rule tuning, rule development, and insights into our daily detection.

Practical Examples

• Estimate the impact of proposed changes to parameters in the TM model on the model’s efficiency.
• Improve and optimize our workflows so that our model can be tuned for even more parameter combinations.
• Build dashboards and bring them to production by collaborating with our platform squads.

Examples of dashboards we are currently working on include:

• A TM rule performance dashboard that will make it easier to optimize the rules of our TM system.
• An overview dashboard providing more insights into our TM system.
• A transaction dashboard that can be used to develop new TM rules.

Position Details

Start Date: 20-10 or 3-11

Duration: 1 year, with the possibility of extension

Fixed Office Days: Monday and Thursday

Hours: 36-40 hours per week

You and your talent:

Hard skills

• Have a Master's degree in a technical field.
• Have 5+ years of experience performing data analysis in Python.
• Have experience with PySpark, Databricks, and Power BI.

Soft skills

• Experience with building end-to-end solutions by using repos, version control, pipelines, and a testing framework.
• Ability to find the real question behind a question and to present your ideas and results in a convincing way.
• You are structured, precise, communicative, pro-active, and have a business focus with a can-do mentality to make a difference.
• Experience guiding juniors and mediors in delivery and sharing your technical vision.
• Ability to see the bigger picture and look ahead into possible new insights.
