Java Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Java Engineer (Java 17+, Spring Boot, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) for our client in Amsterdam.

Roles and Responsibilities

You will be working in a squad responsible for the end-to-end customer journey. You own the stack and the journey! The average squad consists of engineers, customer journey experts (CJE), and a product owner.

• Collaborate with the Product Owner and Engineers to interpret business requirements and deliver features with real business value.

• Foster a collaborative team environment and actively learn from your colleagues.

• Influence technology choices and contribute to the architecture of newly developed components and services.

• Review code meaningfully - focusing on the business and high level.

Java 17+, Spring Boot, Neo4j, Kafka, Azure SQL, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Cucumber, Maven.

Stand-by Shifts

Business critical systems, such as client processes, payment processes, software applications, and websites, require 24/7 accessibility. To act quickly during unforeseen circumstances, certain groups of employees are needed to be on standby. In recognition of their availability during these times, Stand-by compensation is awarded.

• For this role, you will be designated for stand-by shifts and need to be available for incidents outside your regular working hours. Stand-by compensation will be provided.

Must Have Requirements:

• Experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot
• Infrastructure and DevOps tasks (e.g. Azure, pipelines, certificates)
• Observability technologies - Prometheus/Grafana/ELK
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Experience in mentoring colleagues

Nice to Have Experience:

• Neo4j or other graph database
• Kafka
• Domain Driven Design & Hexagonal Architecture

Working conditions: This job role offers a balanced split between operational (run) and project (build) work, with a distribution of 75% operational and 25% project-related tasks. To minimize the impact on business operations, some changes may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.
