Data Scientist GenAI FEC

Spoed

Job description

Join Our Innovative GenAI Team!

Do you want to work at the forefront of AI innovation, driving impactful solutions, and transforming the way we fight financial economic crime? Are you curious and eager to share your acquired knowledge with others? If so, then please read on!

Your Opportunity Awaits

You will become part of a new GenAI team within the FEC Data & Insights area (D&I), launched in March. During the first months, we focused on creating our product vision statement and identifying topics of interest.

Topics of Interest:

  • Knowledge Sharing: Responsible GenAI for everyone. We aim to make GenAI a trusted and everyday tool by sharing practical knowledge, organizing hands-on workshops, and hosting inspiration sessions.
  • GenAI Use Cases: Going beyond Microsoft Copilot, our team will initiate, advise on, and develop GenAI use cases from start (idea) to finish (production) across the D&I area.
  • Unstructured Data: Unstructured data fuels GenAI applications. We are uniquely positioned to support GenAI initiatives across FEC Tech, and we're excited to play a role in this important topic.

Your Role

We hope you're someone who likes to make their mark! As one of the first dedicated data scientists in the team, you'll act as a sparring partner to the product owner, taking on greater responsibility and helping to define our team’s strategy and ways of working.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Evaluate, Create, and Advise on GenAI Cases: With a rigorous process in place, you'll provide feedback on ideas from D&I colleagues and guide promising use cases through the formal process. You'll act as the project lead for co-created or initiated GenAI use cases.
  • Build GenAI Use Cases: In a dedicated Databricks environment using Microsoft Azure OpenAI services, you'll develop, test, and validate use cases. Initially focused on proving potential value and building demos, you’ll also contribute to bringing use cases to production.
  • Build Demos: You'll create demo interfaces to gather feedback and advance use cases, typically using Python frameworks (e.g., Gradio or Streamlit).
  • Prepare and Give Presentations and Hands-On Workshops: We believe anyone can benefit from GenAI! You’ll provide knowledge on Microsoft Copilot for non-technical colleagues and engage more technical colleagues through hands-on workshops and (mini) hackathons.

In summary, this role requires a balance between technical and non-technical skills. You will spend approximately half of your time engaging with stakeholders, evaluating potential use cases, and developing presentations and workshops. The other half will be dedicated to coding and developing use cases and demos.

Where You Will Be Working

We believe in the power of difference. Bringing together people’s differences is what makes us an even better bank. We’re curious about what you can bring to our team! The Data & Insights area is relatively new within FEC, having recently celebrated its first birthday. The GenAI team is part of the subarea data, aiming to be the trusted partner for centralized, consistent, reliable, and future-proof data for FEC. We have ambitious goals, a growth mindset, and a culture that is open, informal, and inclusive. We work together in an agile (scrum) way, typically in a hybrid setup with one or two days in the office per week, usually on Mondays.

At Rabobank, we pride ourselves on being a Dutch bank operating in 37 countries, serving 9.1 million customers in the Netherlands. Our mission is to create a world where everyone has access to enough healthy food and ensuring a country where people are happy with how they live, work, and do business.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Academic working and thinking level, typically with a strong quantitative background.
  • At least five years of hands-on experience as a data scientist, comfortable with Python and version control.
  • Experience building (small) GenAI applications (e.g., with Gradio or Streamlit).
  • Understanding of popular GenAI frameworks like LangChain or OpenAI Agents SDK.
  • Insight into the drawbacks of LLMs and how to mitigate them.
  • Experience with project and stakeholder management, successfully starting and finishing data science projects.
  • A strong communicator who can convey complex topics to a non-technical audience in an engaging manner.
  • Enjoyment in creating and giving presentations and workshops.

We want to emphasize that we do not expect you to tick all the boxes. If you’re excited about this role and believe you will fit into the team, we encourage you to apply. We’re genuinely interested in your story and recognize the unique value you can bring.
