Senior Platform Engineer Role

The Senior Platform Engineer identifies and delivers effective solutions to problems arising with reusable infrastructure and applications. This includes everything from simple error clearing to complex issues requiring root cause analysis through diagnostic data collection. You'll work alongside other software teams to detect, solve, and implement changes that improve performance and functionality.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Technical Architecture: Actively support the Portfolio Owner for Platform Engineering in designing and implementing the technical architecture of a platform. It’s crucial that it meets organizational needs while adhering to best practices in scalability, reliability, and security. The Process Manager is responsible for the execution and improvement of one or more processes, in line with local requirements.
  • Automate Infrastructure Management: Automate infrastructure management and provide developers with self-service tools and workflows from a centrally managed technology platform. This helps reduce cognitive load and streamlines software delivery.
  • Maintain Internal Developer Platforms: Build and maintain Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) that support seamless software delivery systems. Collaborate with developers and senior management to ensure that the infrastructure is reliable and scalable.

Requirements

Must Speak/Write/Read Fluent English

The Soft Skills Must Haves:

  • Ability to work independently and take decisions where necessary.
  • Good communication skills towards team and customer.
  • High level of analytical thinking is a must for problem solving in our complex environment.
  • Can create, read, and adjust documentation.
  • Takes a leading and visible role in the development and improvement of mentioned processes.

Hard Skills Must Haves:

  • Experience writing Infrastructure-as-Code for public cloud (preferably Terraform, preferably multi-cloud experience).
  • Experience setting up pipelines as code (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure Pipelines).
  • Experience working closely with application teams and using development tools (e.g. Gradle, dotnet, npm).
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Knowledge of Large Dell/Vmware private cloud with HA and DR environments.
  • Knowledge and experience in programming language (e.g. Go, Python) is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with GitOps.
  • Knowledge of Scrum/Agile.

Hard Skills Pre or Willing to Learn:

  • Platform Engineering certification.
